Welcome to Los Angeles, the City of Angels, home to the rich and the famous, to the stars, to some of the biggest names and the most iconic sites in America. LA is known for its entertainment, its dining, its shopping, its nightlife, its culture… there’s so much here it’s almost impossible to know where to start exploring.

But we're locals. We've lived here for decades and spent decades searching out the best spots in town. And now we want to share them with you! So without further ado, here's your comprehensive guide to Hollywood & LA.

Five-Star Meals & Secret Dives

From world-renowned restaurants to decades-old institutions to hole-in-the-wall dives, LA has one of the most truly unique, diverse, and utterly amazing food scenes in America. Pizza, burgers, tacos, sushi, breakfast all day, locally-grown, vegan… LA has it all.

A few of our favorites? SQRL (for breakfast all day), Kismet (James Beard Award Finalist), Hippo (super-fresh food, years in the making), Langer’s Deli, and Dan Tana’s (where the rich and famous dine).

Retail Fixes and Trendy Secondhands

LA is a shopping mecca for shoppers of all sorts—indoor mall shoppers, street strollers, bargain hunters, bohemians, luxury boutiquers… This city’s got a lot of options.

The Grove is one of our favorite shopping spots. This one-stop-shop features walkable brick streets lined in high-end retail shops, specialty boutiques, and elaborate fountains. Rodeo Drive is another great street for browsing.

Photo-Op Stops

Sometimes, you’ve just gotta be a tourist and hit up the popular spots for a quick Kodak moment. Did you really visit LA if you don’t have a picture of the Hollywood sign or the Walk of Fame? If you’re taking pictures, here’s where you’ve got to go.

Griffith Park and Observatory

For such a big city, LA has a surprising amount of green space. And Griffith Park is one of the largest. It’s free to the public and boasts some of the best views in the city. From here, you can catch a bird’s-eye view of the city, and maybe even the Hollywood sign.

Hollywood

You can’t miss Hollywood. Not only will your photo shoot include the Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theatre, and the Hollywood Wax Museum, it might even feature a famous face!

Great Outdoor Scenes

One thing locals really love about LA is the number of parks, trails, and green spaces there are scattered throughout the city. Whether you’re looking for a casual picnic spot, an epic hike, or even a horseback riding adventure, LA’s got plenty of options.

Some of our fave outdoor spots around LA: Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area (fishing holes, hiking, views), Echo Park Lake (canoeing, fishing, strolling), and Elysian Park (home to Dodger Stadium).

One-of-a-Kind Arts & Culture

There are plenty of cities around America with good restaurants, scenic parks, and nifty hangouts. But LA’s got something that the rest of the world just can’t compete with. It’s the culture. The performing arts. The live shows. The comedy clubs and theatres. The live music. The museums. The festivities and celebrations… It’s just… you’ve gotta experience it to truly understand.

What are those things that make LA so uniquely… LA? Maybe it’s a live show at the Hollywood Bowl or a laugh a local comedy club. Could be a tour through the Grammy Museum or maybe that decades-long tradition the Tournament of Roses. Honestly, we could list a hundred things LA and not scratch the surface of this city.

You just have to come live it.
